Mountain Horizon for Cynthia

This Mountain Horizon quilt has a warm palette that reminds me of sunsets in the mountains of the Pacific NW, with a deep golden sun setting between the peaks. Complimentary to the landscape, a fern and wildflower fabric (Dear Stella’s Fresh Dew Secret Garden) was chosen for the back and provides a bold pop of color to the warm front. The binding is pieced with fabrics from the quilt top for a fun accent that varies in color around the border. Its unique quilting design features straight line quilting as well as curved accents around the sun.

From the piecing to the quilting, this quilt was such a creative learning experience. This pattern introduced curved piecing into my world and I have never looked back. I made this quilt alongside other quilters as part of the #mountainhorizonqal, my first Instagram quilt-along hosted by Brittany @ Lo & Behold Stitchery. This quilt now resides in Hood River, Oregon!
